Camp Pendleton is the largest Marine Corps installation on the West Coast and the home of I Marine Expeditionary Force. The communications, intelligence and cyber billets across those units carry DoD 8140 qualification requirements, and the base sits about 40 miles north of our San Diego classroom. DoD Training Center San Diego handles Camp Pendleton CompTIA training two ways, and for most units the second one is the right answer.

Option one: individual Marines attend a scheduled class in Kearny Mesa. Option two, and usually better for a shop: we bring the instructor to you and teach the class on base. The San Diego team has delivered on-site training at commands as far out as Korea and Guam. Pendleton is an hour up the freeway.

Certification Courses for Camp Pendleton Units

The credentials that come up most often across I MEF and the supporting establishment:

Camp Pendleton, Oceanside and North County

Camp Pendleton occupies zip code 92055 and stretches across roughly 125,000 acres of coastal North County, from Oceanside north to the Orange County line. Oceanside (92054, 92056, 92057) sits at the base’s southern gate, Vista and San Marcos inland, and the whole corridor carries the housing, families and defense support businesses that a base of that size generates.

The honest problem is distance. Our Kearny Mesa classroom is about 40 miles south — realistically 50 to 70 minutes each way on I-5 or I-15, and worse in the afternoon. Ten Marines making that round trip for five days is 100 hours of windshield time that produces nothing.

Which is why on-site delivery is what we usually recommend for Pendleton. One instructor drives north; nobody else drives anywhere. For individual Marines or North County civilians who prefer a scheduled class, the Kearny Mesa dates are on the class calendar and the drive is manageable if you leave early.

On-Site Training at Your Command

Bringing the class to Camp Pendleton solves three problems at once: travel time, cost, and the scheduling friction of releasing people from a unit for a week.

We hold CAGE code 8KUJ4, which means a training officer or contracting shop can put an on-site class on a purchase order through normal channels instead of inventing a mechanism. The instructor arrives with the courseware, teaches the same 37.5-hour curriculum in your classroom or conference space, and your Marines never leave the installation.

The one thing on-site delivery cannot bring with it is the test center. Exams are proctored at an authorized facility, so on-site cohorts either test at our Pearson VUE center in San Diego or at a testing site closer to the base. We do not accept Tuition Assistance or the GI Bill — say so to your training officer before a package gets built around the wrong assumption.

And we do not run cohorts that start “when enough people sign up.” Dates are published, classes run, and a group class gets scheduled around the unit’s calendar.

What a Class Week Looks Like

Five consecutive days, 08:00 to 16:00. Monday is a diagnostic so the instructor teaches the actual room rather than a generic syllabus — with a unit cohort this matters, because experience levels inside one shop can range from a brand-new Marine to a staff NCO who has been running networks for a decade. Tuesday through Thursday alternate lecture, lab and exam-style question drills. Friday is review, practice testing and an honest readiness call for each student.

For a unit, that means Friday afternoon you know exactly who is ready to sit and who needs another two weeks with the material. That is more useful to a training officer than a completion certificate.

Can you teach a class on base at Camp Pendleton?
