Cyber Security Certification Training Near San Diego Military Bases
DoD Training Center San Diego teaches DoD 8140-aligned IT and cybersecurity certification courses from a classroom and Pearson VUE testing center at 9089 Clairemont Mesa Blvd in Kearny Mesa — CompTIA, Cisco, ISACA, (ISC)² and EC-Council, taught in person over five consecutive days. Cyber security training near San Diego military bases is what this office was built for: Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, MCAS Miramar, North Island and Naval Amphibious Base Coronado are all inside a 30-minute drive, and Camp Pendleton is an hour north.
Twelve service-area pages cover the neighborhoods around those installations. Each one lists drive times, the certifications that area's students most often need, and how the funding actually works.

San Diego County Service Areas
Our classroom, lab and Pearson VUE test center are here at 9089 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, minutes off SR-163 and I-15. Kearny Mesa students walk in Monday and test down the hall on Friday.
About eight minutes from one of the largest military housing communities in the country. Short enough that a spouse with school-age children can realistically attend a five-day class.
Twelve minutes down I-15 from the Miramar main gate. Communications, intel and cyber billets across 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, plus the Mira Mesa contractor workforce.
Naval Base Point Loma and the NIWC Pacific campuses sit about 20 minutes west. Point Loma students skew toward CISSP, SecurityX and the senior end of the 8140 matrix.
Naval Air Station North Island, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado and the Naval Special Warfare community, roughly 30 minutes across the bridge. Security+ is the credential most often requested.
Eighteen minutes up I-5 from the 32nd Street gates. Built around sailors working between underway periods and the civilian workforce in the Harbor Drive ship-repair yards.
Twenty minutes up I-805, directly south of Naval Base San Diego. A large veteran and port-workforce population moving into IT through the A+ to Security+ sequence.
The county's second-largest city and one of its biggest military-family populations. Certifications that stay valid through a PCS matter more here than anywhere else we serve.
The southern end of the Silver Strand, half an hour north to the classroom. Navy families, separating sailors and spouses building portable credentials.
The cleared-contractor corridor, 15 minutes north on I-805. CISSP, CISM and SecurityX for engineers who need a credential to stay billable on a task order.
Twenty minutes west on SR-52. East County's veteran and skilled-trades population converting hands-on capability into a certification employers screen for.
Forty miles north, which is why we usually bring the class to you. On-site delivery at I MEF commands is contractable under CAGE code 8KUJ4.
About Our San Diego Service Area
Everything above is measured from one address. The classroom, the lab and the Pearson VUE authorized test center all sit in the same suite in Kearny Mesa, which is roughly the geographic center of San Diego's military footprint — 18 minutes from the 32nd Street gates, 12 from Miramar, 20 from Point Loma, 30 from Coronado. That is not an accident of real estate. It is why a sailor, a Marine and a cleared engineer can all attend the same Monday-morning class without an overnight stay or a per-diem request.
For anything outside that radius, we come to you. On-site delivery at commands, units and contractor facilities is a core part of what this team does — the San Diego instructors have taught at commands as far out as South Korea and Guam, so North County is not a stretch. Request an on-site class and we will scope it against your calendar rather than ours.
Why San Diego Commands and Contractors Train With Us
A Pearson VUE test center in the same suite as the classroom. Students finish instruction Friday and sit the certification exam that day. Most providers hand you a voucher and a list of test sites, and that gap is where certifications quietly die. See the on-site testing center.
Named instructors who held the jobs. Raymond Hughes, ITC, USN (retired), co-founded this office in 2019 and teaches here alongside Ryan Balbuena. Meet the instructors.
CAGE code 8KUJ4. A training officer or contracting shop can buy seats or a full private cohort through normal procurement instead of a personal card and a reimbursement form.
Five-day bootcamps, published dates. Most certifications run 37.5 hours over five days; CompTIA A+ and Cisco CCNA run 75 hours over two weeks because compressing them further would be dishonest. Dates are on the San Diego class calendar, and the full lineup is in the course catalog.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which San Diego military installations do you serve?
All of them. Our classroom is in Kearny Mesa, within a 30-minute drive of Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, MCAS Miramar, and Naval Air Station North Island and Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Camp Pendleton is about an hour north, and for units there we generally deliver the class on base instead.
Do you come to the command, or does the command come to you?
Both. Individual students attend scheduled classes at our Kearny Mesa classroom. Units, commands and contractor teams frequently have us deliver the class on-site instead. We hold CAGE code 8KUJ4, so an on-site class can be contracted through normal procurement, and the San Diego team has taught at commands as far out as South Korea and Guam.
Where do students take the certification exam?
In the same suite as the classroom. We operate a Pearson VUE authorized testing center on site, so students who finish a bootcamp on Friday can sit the exam that day rather than scheduling it weeks later at a separate facility. The test center is also open to people who did not train with us.
How do students usually pay for training?
Navy and Marine Corps COOL and Credentialing Assistance, MyCAA for military spouses, command training budgets, and employer reimbursement for civilian and contractor students. We do not accept Tuition Assistance or the GI Bill — we would rather tell you that up front than after a funding package is built around the wrong assumption.
Ready to Schedule Training?
Published San Diego class dates are on the calendar. For a unit or a team, request an on-site class instead and we will build the week around your schedule.
