Course Overview
AI has moved into production across threat detection, identity, fraud analysis and automation. That creates a security surface most practitioners were never trained on: models that can be poisoned, data pipelines that can be manipulated, and inference layers that can be attacked directly. CompTIA SecAI+ is the first vendor-neutral certification built to close that gap.
The course runs in two directions at once. The defensive half covers securing AI systems - technical controls protecting models, data and infrastructure across on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployments, and mitigation of adversarial attacks. The operational half covers using AI as a tool: automating triage and alert correlation, accelerating incident response, and applying AI to threat modeling and continuous monitoring.
SecAI+ is an expansion certification, not a replacement. It is designed to layer on top of Security+, CySA+ or PenTest+ rather than compete with them, and it assumes you already understand security fundamentals. Expect roughly three to four years in IT with at least two years hands-on in cybersecurity before this exam is a comfortable fit.
Who This Course Is For
- Security analysts working with AI-enabled tooling
- SOC staff automating detection and response
- Security engineers and architects
- Incident responders and threat hunters
- GRC and compliance staff assessing AI risk
- Practitioners already holding Security+, CySA+ or PenTest+
About the Exam
SecAI+ launched in February 2026. Exam objectives are revised periodically by CompTIA - confirm the current version before scheduling.

Where SecAI+ Fits
SecAI+ is an expansion certification. It builds on the core credentials rather than replacing them.
Recommended First
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA CySA+
- CompTIA PenTest+
Roles It Supports
- AI security engineer
- AI-enabled SOC analyst
- Security architect with an AI remit
- Threat detection and automation engineer
SecAI+ is not currently listed as a DoD 8140 baseline certification. Confirm current requirements with your command or contracting officer before relying on it for a compliance requirement.
