Certifications & DoD Compliance
What certifications does DoD Training Center San Diego offer?
We teach the certifications San Diego commands and contractors ask for most: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, SecurityX, Cloud+, Linux+, and Tech+; Cisco CCNA; CISSP; CISM; and CEH. Every course maps to a specific DoD work role, so you know exactly what it qualifies you for before you enroll.
Do these courses satisfy DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) requirements?
Yes. Every certification we teach is one DoD 8140 accepts for cyber and IT work roles. Tell us the work role or the deadline your command is working against, and we will confirm the exact certification that satisfies it.
What if the certification I need isn't on your San Diego course list?
Ask us. DoD Training Center San Diego is the West Coast site of DoD Training Center, which runs a much larger national course catalog. If it's not on our San Diego lineup, we will point you to it or bring it to San Diego if there is enough demand.
Funding & Cost
Will Tuition Assistance, GI Bill, or COOL cover this?
We are not able to accept Tuition Assistance (TA) or GI Bill at this time. Courses are command funded, organizationally funded through your employer, or covered by your service's COOL (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line) program. Tell us your funding source before you enroll and we will walk you through exactly what is covered.
Do you offer funding help for military spouses?
Yes. Military spouses can apply MyCAA funding, up to $4,000, directly toward an IT or cybersecurity certification through us.
Format, Testing & Location
Can I take the certification exam the same day I finish the course?
Yes. We run on-site Pearson VUE testing at our San Diego training center, so you can test the same week you finish the course instead of scheduling a separate exam appointment somewhere else.
How long does a course run?
Most certifications run as a 5-day, 37.5-hour instructor-led bootcamp, Monday through Friday. CompTIA A+ and Cisco CCNA run two weeks (75 hours) because of the larger exam scope.
Where is the San Diego training center located?
9089 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Suite 110, San Diego, CA 92123, in Kearny Mesa. Call (858) 215-6174 or request a class below and we will confirm the next available date.
Is training available online, or only in person?
Both. Every course runs in person at our San Diego classroom, on-site at your location, or live online with an instructor — same curriculum and same instructor access, whichever format you choose.
Worldwide & Group Training
Do you train service members outside San Diego?
Yes. Our instructors deploy to bases and commands worldwide, with recent classes taught in South Korea and Guam, in addition to our San Diego classroom. If your unit needs training somewhere our calendar doesn't already cover, request a class and we will build it around your location.
Who teaches the courses?
Raymond Hughes and our San Diego instructor team teach every class in person, not a pre-recorded video. They hold the certifications they teach and have real-world IT and cybersecurity backgrounds, so your questions get answered by someone who has done the job.
Can my command or company book a class for a group?
Yes. We run dedicated on-site classes for commands, units, and contractors; you set the roster and we bring the course to you. DoD Training Center San Diego holds a CAGE code, UEID, and DUNS number for contracting. Request a class below and tell us the headcount, certification, and location.
